Our Approach to Wellness
At Whole Health Veterinary, we focus on
true wellness, balancing all aspects of
your pet's health. We promote healthy
diets and nutrition, preventive medicine,
and a conservative approach to vaccines.
We believe over-vaccinating
compromises health, and we evaluate
each pet individually before
recommending which vaccines should be
given, if any.
We combine the best of traditional and holistic medicine to
maximize the ability of your pet's body to not only function, but
to thrive. The right diet and a strong immune system will
maintain your pet's vitality, and help eliminate the chronic
health problems that plague many pets.
Our holistic approach includes such practices as raw diets,
whole food supplements, glandular supplements, herbal
medicine, flower remedies, homeopathic remedies,
chiropractic treatment, and Healing Touch for Animals (tm).
We are happy to answer any questions you have about these
things and how they might apply to your pet's health care.
Twice a Year for Life!
Top 5 Reasons for Regular Wellness Visits:
1. Your pet doesn't speak "human"
Your pet can't put feelings into words, and isn't able to tell
you, "I just don't feel good." Pets instinctively hide signs
of physical pain or illness. Our veterinarians are trained
to recognize and follow up on subtle signs that indicate
health problems.
2. "How old is that in pet years?"
One year in your pet's life equals about 5-7 human years.
Changes in your pet's health can occur quickly, sometimes
in as little as a month. How many physical problems would
your own doctor detect if you saw them only every five
years?
3. Nip health problems in the bud
We use the Wellness Exam to detect physical problems
your pet may have developed. Detected early, these
issues are often easier to treat or prevent. The Wellness
Exam is the perfect opportunity to discuss any changes
you have noticed in your pet's appearance or behavior.
4. An ounce of prevention...
Your pet's weight matters! Carrying around just a few
extra pounds puts additional strain on the heart, joints,
and lungs. This strain can cause significant discomfort
and disease, and may even shorten your pet's life!
Regular wellness visits let us keep an eye on your pet's
weight. If necessary, we can help you get your pet back to
an ideal healthy weight.
5. Cover ALL your bases with periodic laboratory tests!
These tests, performed while your pet is apparently
healthy, provide a "baseline" of normal organ function.
Using this information, we can quickly identify small
changes indicating an emerging health problem. Many
problems cannot be diagnosed through a physical exam
alone. Periodic lab tests enable us to identify these
conditions, so they can be treated or prevented.
