Homeopathic Care at Whole Health Veterinary
What Is Homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a system of medicine
developed 200 years ago by a
German physician, Dr. Samuel
Hahnemann.
Disgusted with the harsh methods
physicians had at their disposal at
that time, such as violent purging,
use of toxins, and bloodletting, he
began to search for an alternative.
He found that certain substances,
when greatly diluted, could cure the
very conditions that they caused.
This is the central theme of
homeopathy, the Law of Similars,
which states that “like cures like.”
How Does It Work?
In the current system of medicine, drugs are given in order to
cause physiological changes in the body. Missing hormones
may be replaced, bacteria may be killed, or reactions may be
curtailed.
Homeopathic remedies are made of highly diluted substances
found in nature. These remedies work energetically,
enhancing the body’s ability to heal itself.
A remedy is used to introduce an artificial disease into the
body, thus overpowering and eliminating the natural disease
to which the body has succumbed. Once the obstacle of the
disease has been removed, the body is then able to heal itself

Treating the Cause of Disease
Homeopathy is based on the idea that disease starts at the
energetic level prior to manifesting as a physical illness.
This notion has recently been borne out by the latest
discoveries in the field of quantum physics. The advantage
of homeopathic prescribing is that it allows treatment of the
origin of the disease condition, rather than simply managing
the effects or symptoms of the disease.
The organism is always trying to maintain homeostasis, that
ideal state of balance between feeling, form, and function.
Therefore, symptoms are neither good nor bad; they are
evidence of the body’s attempt to regain homeostasis.
Instead of counteracting these attempts with the use of
antibiotics or antiinflammatories, homeopathic remedies
support and allow the organism to complete the process and
regain health.

Homeopathy is a Holistic
Therapy
Homeopathic remedies are
prescribed with the goal of
treating the entire animal,
including the mental, emotional,
and physical aspects of your pet’s
condition. When considering a
case for homeopathic care, an
emphasis is placed on symptoms
or behaviors that appear unusual.
Conventional medicine tends to
focus on common symptoms;
therefore all patients with the
same diagnosis tend to receive
the same treatment. This
emphasizes the necessity of
arriving at a diagnosis so as to be
able to prescribe appropriately.
Veterinary homeopathic care also
utilizes diagnostic testing in order
to verify the exact nature of the
complaint, because our patients
cannot tell us what hurts.
However, the common symptoms
of the disease condition may not
be the only guide to the choice of
a remedy. This is where the nature
of homeopathic prescribing is
most evident.

Your Pet’s Appointment
Your pet's initial homeopathic appointment will last
approximately 1-2 hours, and will consist of a physical exam
and an in-depth discussion of medical history, diet,
environment, personality, and other significant factors.
We ask that Dr. Levy receive copies of medical records
prior to the appointment so that they may be reviewed.
Additional diagnostic testing may be indicated. Follow-up is
extremely important in homeopathic treatment, with the next
appointment in 4 weeks. It is necessary to remain in close
touch with the doctor to track your pet’s response to the
remedy.
